Dear Colleagues, Concerned Citizens and Elected Officials,

On February 20, 2004 from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. we will be hosting a breakfast forum entitled “Addressing Addictions:  A Family Problem.”  We will present information and elicit your input in four topic areas: (1) Service Access, (2) Gender Specific Services for Women,  (3) Children and Families, and (4) Co-Occurring Disorders.

This forum is designed to elicit input, to explore solutions to issues relative to substance abuse, and to discuss our current use of Federal substance abuse block grant funding.  Your input into this process is especially important to us at Capital Area Human Services District, as making the community a part of the planning and decision making process is a major focus of our agency.

I know that substance abuse is a topic of great interest to you, and it is because of your commitment to this community that you are being invited to participate.  Each of the seven parishes comprising the District has identified substance abuse as a leading problem.  Each of these parishes has unique needs in prevention and treatment that reflect their own demographics and community values.  Please join me and District staff to discuss what you see as successes and unmet needs, and to help us be more focused in partnership with you in our approach to this critical problem.
