Louisiana Ranks 2nd
highest in the nation in DWI fatalities, Here is why there MUST be
increased treatment if we are to find hope for reducing the deaths on
our Highways:
Nearly three-quarters of drivers convicted of driving while
impaired are either problem drinkers or alcoholics.
Binge drinkers (those who consumed five or more drinks at a
single sitting during the past month) are 30 times more likely to
drive while impaired than those who do not binge.
Providing heavy drinkers who are not alcohol-dependent with self-help
materials relating to alcoholism can, by itself, be an effective method
of brief intervention

Housing
Louisiana
The
cost of indifference and ineffective policy related to untreated addiction, alcohol and other drug abuse and
dependency is enormous.
Substance abuse, alcoholism, addiction wreaks havoc on our physical and mental states.
The vast impact of it is known in our families, our work
environments, communities, schools, criminal justice system,
public safety, housing, justice system, and social service systems.
Despite the vast impact this illness has had in Louisiana little
has achieved in reducing harms and opening doors to recovery for
those in need. We hope to connect people and services to
work together to end the stronghold addiction has claimed here.
