MISSION:
The mission of O’Brien House is to help recovering alcoholics and drug addicts develop or restore strength, hope, and stability to their lives so they may return to the community as productive citizens.

O’Brien House is a halfway house established in 1971 for adult recovering alcoholics and drug addicts. It is named for Paul S. "Pat" O’Brien who spent 53 years of his life working with alcoholics and educating the public to the disease of alcoholism. O’Brien House is dedicated to helping individuals turn their lives around to become healthy contributing members of the community.

From the Director, Ms. Katherine Martin

As Executive Director of O'Brien House, I am pleased to direct one of the leading Halfway House Programs in the state of Louisiana.  Our belief and support of this type of residential housing for successful recovery at O'Brien House exists because we realize the importance of providing support services for clients as they transition from in-patient treatment to Independent Living.  It is our belief that Intermediate care services increase the effectiveness of treatment programs for substance abuse and that the percentages of individuals remaining in recovery is increased by living in a structured and protected environment during the first six months of recovery.

This structured and protected environment helps complete our mission which is "to help the recovering alcoholic and drug addict restore strength, hope and stability to their lives so that they may return to the community as productive citizens".  Halfway House support and placement is essential to increasing the percentage of people staying in recovery.
