DWI Bill's that do not
support identifying or treating Alcohol abuse or dependence.

We encourage all of the authors of these bills to amend their bill, to mandate Screenings for 1st offense, and provide mandated coercive treatment for those who screen positive for alcohol dependence.

If the money is available to incarcerate, increase law enforcement, the certainly we have money to treat and bring about an effective solution.  3/4 of those with a first arrest for DWI need help, early interventions saves tax dollars and lives.  Last year more than 400 people died on our highways, we are 2nd in the nation in Highway fatalities related to alcohol.

No support for bills that continue to impose heavier penalties on people with an untreated disease.
