| Who knew?
Weeks before Katrina came to the gulf coast, I took a new direction in
painting, a very clear new direction. Except for one other painting
completed in April 2005 "Know Hope" most all my work reflected a variation
of my unnatural love for trees, especially live
oak trees. In fact, virtually all of my work reflects oaks, not this one, a surprise for
me too. Spiritual connections for me began 14 years ago finding clarity under the trees in Port Vincent LA, where my sponsor lives-
This painting had little to do with what I know as peace and serenity, and I was not sure where it came from, but it did, so I went with it. Times have been rough for me personally and I assumed this was frustrations, little did I know at the time, how revealing this work would be. This is the first of a series I did in days before, and days after Hurricane Katrina there are not many words to fully explain the need, and denial of needs, and what often to me has been an unbelievable ongoing reality, that has brought us to these surreal moments after the storm.
